New Specialists join the team at RMT

RMT Accountants & Business Advisors has started the new financial year with the appointment of two tax consultants.

Richard Humphreys and Chris Stewart have joined the Newcastle practice, bringing more than 35 years’ industry experience between them to the firm’s 12-strong tax team.

Humphreys has worked as a tax specialist for two decades, and joins the Gosforth firm after 15 years with the tax team at another independent practice.

He has extensive experience of working with owner-managed businesses, as well as specialist knowledge of professional partnerships and the medical sector, and in his new role, he is responsible for continuing and expanding the services offered by RMT.

Humphreys said: “I knew a few of the RMT tax team and recognised the good reputation that the firm has within our industry, so when the chance came up to join the team, I was keen to grab it.

“There’s a lot of potential here to both work with a great many exciting, successful North East businesses and to develop my career, and I’m looking forward to the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead.”

Stewart qualified with a small regional practice that he joined after leaving sixth form and then moved to the Newcastle office of a of a ‘Big Four’ practice. His most recent role was in the Newcastle head office of Rowlands Accountants, and he is primarily focussing on corporate tax issues in his new position.

In this situation, there’s no substitute for hands-on experience of dealing with the practicalities of the tax system, and the detailed knowledge that Chris and Richard bring to an already extremely strong team will bring tangible benefits to our growing client portfolio.”
